Mittelrheintal
Castle Pfalzgrafenstein
A fortified complex that was built on a cliff in the middle of the Bacheracher Engtal in 1327 in the town of Kaub. In this region the Rhine river is referred to as “Wildes Gefähr” which means “wild ride”. As a watch station it secured a profitable source of income for the customs of Kaub and the multiple feudal lords.
